JOSEPH FRANCIS XAVIER STACK, M.D.

JOSEPH FRANCIS XAVIER STACK, M.D., was born July 6, 1871, in
Hoboken, Hudson County, N. J., where he still resides. He is the son of
Maurice Stack and Mary Carmody, and a grandson of Martin Stack, who
married Mary Kelly. His ancestors on both sides descended from Irish
emigrants who, since their settlement in this country, have been prominent
in both business and civil life. His father, who is now retired, was for
twenty-eight years a
member of the police
force of Hoboken, where
the family settled in
July, 1863.
Dr. Stack was educated at St. Peter's College in Jersey City and at Bellevue Hospital Medical College, New York, graduating from the latter institution with the degree of M.D. in March, 1896. He then served in the Out Patient Department of St. Vincent's Hospital, New York City, for two years, and on November 2, 1897, engaged in the active practice of his profession in Hoboken, opening his present office at 212 Garden Street. In May 1898, he was appointed City Physician, which office he still holds. He is physician to Court Castle Point and Christopher Columbus Lodge, Ancient Order of Foresters of Hoboken, a member of Council No. 99, Roval Arcanum, of Hoboken, and a member of Court Harmony, A. O. F., of the Riverside Athletic Club, and of the Knights of Columbus. Dr. Stack, though a young man, has achieved an excellent practice and a recognized standing in the community, and enjoyed a wide acquaintance and popularity. Ile is deeply interested in public affairs, is a public spirited, energetic, and progressive citizen, and one of the leading young physicians of Hudson County.
