ADOLPH H. BARKERDING, of Park Ridge, N. J., is the son of Henry and Henrietta (Mollenhauer) Barkerding and a grandson of Henry Barkerding, Sr., and Regina Mollenhauer, who came to this country front Hamburg. Germany. He was born in Charleston, S. C., May 22, 1869, and attended the schools of that city until he was fourteen years of age. He then left school to engage in the dry goods business in Charleston, remaining with the same firm for a period of twelve years and rising to the position of general manager. Upon receiving an offer of a position with Mittag & Volger, of Park Ridge, N. J., he resigned his former position and came to New York. He has since that time been associated with them.

He is a member of the Lutheran Church of Park Ridge, a public spirited and progressive citizen, and highly esteemed by all who know him. He married Charlotte J. Police and has one child, T. A. Barkerding.
