WARREN FERDON is descended in the ninth generation from Thomas
Verdon and Mary Badye, the first American ancestors of the family. The
line of descent is the same through eight generations as that of Jesse N.
Ferdon. John D. Ferdon (8), the brother of Jesse
N. Ferdon, was born at Closter, N. J., and married Clarissa Gecox, daughter
of William Gecox, of Alpine, N. J. One of their children of the ninth
generation is Warren Ferdon, the subject of this sketch. Mr. Ferdon (9) was born in Alpine, N. J., on the 1st of October, 1868. He was educated in the schools of Bergen County, and at the age of seventeen began his active career in the dry goods business. Six months later, however, he became a clerk in a grocery house, in which he remained five years, when he engaged in the grocery and grain business for himself in Closter, N. J., where he still resides. He has continued in this business until the present time (1900), having built up a large and successful trade. He is a member of the Dutch Reformed Church, a public spirited citizen, and highly esteemed by all who know him.
