JOSEPH J. HANLON

JOSEPH J. HANLON has been a life-long resident of Harrison, N. J.
He is the son of James Hanlon and Jane Mackel, both of whom were born
in Ireland. They came to this country when young and were married in
Bloomfield, N. J. Mr. Hanlon was educated in the public schools of Harrison and at St. Benedict's College in Newark. Afterward he identified himself with the telephone and electrical business, and rose step by step to the position of Superintendent of the Hudson Telephone Company, which he now holds. He is a member of the Board of Education of Harrison, being the only Democrat elected to that body and having no opposition in the Fourth Ward. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, of the Catholic Benevolent Legion, and of the Guard of Honor. In politics he has always been a Democrat. He is popular in his native city and well known for his energy, public spirit, and enterprise. Mr. Hanlon married Catherine, daughter of Edward and Catherine (Keeshan) Kelly, of Jersey City, on the 15th of November, 1899. Mr. Kelly is a well known building inspector of Jersey City.
