FRANCIS W. FORD, of Demarest, was born in New York City on the 14th of July, 1846. He is the son of Isaac Ford and Catharine West, and was educated in the schools of his native city. At the age of sixteen he engaged in surveying in New York and has since continued in that profession. Since 1871 he has served as City Surveyor. He has an office at 8 James Street, New York City, and succeeded a firm which was established in 1809.

Mr. Ford has served as School Commissioner, Road Commissioner, and Police Commissioner, and is a member of the Reformed Church. In public affairs and in private matters he has established a high reputation and is respected and esteemed by all who know him. He married Anna M. Kitching and has six children: Francis K., born in 1877; Howard H., born in 1880; Walter H., born in 1881; Frederick C., born in 1884; Raymond W., born in 1886; and Harold S., born in 1889.
