ELOF SWENSON

ELOF SWENSON, of Arlington, is the son of Sven Nelson Hasel and
Christeena Hasalquist, and was born in Sweden on the 29th of March,
1857. His parents were born and married in that country, and there the
subject of this sketch received a public school education.
After leaving school Mr. Swenson learned the carpenter's trade, which he has since followed. He came to the United States in 1879, landing in New York City. He then located in Brooklyn, N. Y., where he worked at the carpenter's trade. In 1893 he moved to Arlington, N. J., where he still resides. There he has built up a large business as a carpenter and builder, and is well known for his public spirit, energy, and enterprise. He is a member of Royal Templars of Temperance, a member of the Baptist Church, and a Republican in politics. Mr. Swenson was married at Brooklyn, N. Y., in 1882, to Augusta Hult, daughter of Peter and Clara Halt, of Sweden. They have five children: Fannie, Harry, Alma, David, and Arthur.
