RICHARD MORRISON

RICHARD MORRISON, of Arlington, is the son of James Morrison and
Jane Coulter, and was born in Belfast, Ireland, on the 22d of February.
1855. He was educated in his native city. In December, 1872, Mr. Morrison came to America alone and settled in Jersey City Heights, whence he removed to New York City in 1876. He remained there until 1885, when he removed to Arlington, Hudson County, where he still resides. For four years he was connected with the well known dry goods house of A. T. Stewart, of New York. Afterward he entered the employ of Silver & Son, shoe manufacturers, with whom he still remains, holding the position of bookkeeper and cashier. Mr. Morrison is a Republican in politics and a prohibitionist in principle. He was a member of the Republican County Committee of Hudson County and at one time was nominated for Assemblyman by the Prohibition party. lie received a most complimentary vote. He was President of the Fourth District Republican Club for a time and is now a member and Treasurer of the First Baptist Church of Arlington, a member of the Royal Arcanum, and a Director of the Kearny Building and Loan Association. In every capacity Mr. Morrison has displayed that degree of ability and sound judgment which mark the successful man. He is thoroughly identified with the affairs of the town and county, active in promoting every worthy object, and honored and respected by all who know him. He has six children: George A., James E., Robert C., William J. S., Edward G. M., and Margaret M.
