Jersey City A UK collector and fan who has been here five times before to get records not found elsewhere told a Scandinavian friend to meet him in Jersey City for a pilgrimage to buy music. They had a lengthy list and went away happy after going through the archives that overflow the store and also fill a garage and a warehouse. Owner Stan Krauss has been collecting records since the early 50s and he has lived every part of the music business in that time. Stan has done it all, from pressing vinyl discs into records to touring Europe with groups he managed, "It's my life," he says simply. A look around the store tells the story stretching over more than 5 decades in the evolution of the music. Stan has lived it and there is very little he does not know and cannot tell you. And if you want it, he's got it. "Babalu's Wedding Day?" "The Eternals, 1958, "My Girl" on the flip." Got it? Absolutely. Stan also has hard-to-find recordings. Did you know that Jackie Wilson sang together with Clyde McPhatter? If that means anything to you, then you should know that, first, it is true. Second, Stan told me. And third, of course, Stan has the record Naturally.
