City Hall Art Exhibit Honors Women's History Month JERSEY CITY -- Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham will host the kick-off party for the Women's History Month Exhibit at City Hall on Friday, March 5, 2004 from 6 to 9 p.m. at 280 Grove Street. The opening festivities will include presentations by local artists, organized through an artists collective, The Waterbug Hotel. The Waterbug Hotel is a Jersey City-based collective of artists and supporters whose primary focus is to help the community evolve culturally and to celebrate the arts. The Waterbug Hotel, a non-commercial entity, organizes arts-related events throughout the New Jersey and New York City area. The evening will feature live music - including African percussion - spoken word, live hip-hop, a fashion show, and hair art. "This is a great way to celebrate both the contributions of women during Women's History Month and to acknowledge the important role art plays in our lives," Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham said. "I encourage everyone to come and view the art work exhibited in City Hall now and during future exhibits." The artists displaying work during Women's History Month are Elaine Hansen, Minako Yoshino, Heather Williams, Sandy DeSando, Polliana Teixeira, Megan Klim, Megan McDonald, Jessica Leonard, Lisa Portnoff, Caroline Burton, Maggie Ens, Teresa Celemin, Eileen Ferara, Kelly Darr, Nancy Wells, Michelle Vitale Loughlin, Tracey Luszcz, Vanessa Holley, Jessica Lynn and Christina Soto.
