Cathedral Arts Festival—Hudson County’s largest and longest running juried visual and performing arts showcase—will celebrate its Sweet 16 in April and May 2005. This outstanding celebration of the arts is one of Jersey’s City’s signature community events. Located in Historic Downtown Jersey City, and housed in a 155-year-old neo-gothic cathedral, this year’s fine arts exhibit will feature more than 60 artists presenting their newest work in painting, photography, sculpture, and other media. In addition to the fine arts exhibit and our signature Black Tie Champagne Gala on April 30th, there are many free events including a Performing Arts Showcase on May 1, Gallery Talks on May 4 and 11, a Local Filmmakers Showcase on May 6 and 13, and a Local Poets Showcase on May 18. Artists of all mediums continue to choose New Jersey as their place of residence, enhancing our communities and our quality of life. It is one of Grace Van Vorst’s missions to continue to foster relations with the arts community, to provide our space as a resource for their creative output, and to promote their work to the residents of Hudson County and beyond.
