West Orange-Whippany-Ledgewood; State 10.
The eastern section of State 10 runs through a thickly settled suburban
area. The road climbs the ridges of the Orange Mountains and descends,
only to roll up and down over a number of lesser hills in the manner of
an elongated roller coaster. Farms and country estates are along the western section of the highway. There are fine views of broad valleys and
higher mountains, typical of northern New Jersey.
State 10, following Condit St., forms a junction with Main St. in West
Orange on the northern side of the new, Georgian style CITY HALL, a
handsome brick structure.
West Orange to Ledgewood, 26.9 miles.
Tourist homes and roadhouses.
Concrete roadbed of three to four lanes, by-passing all towns.
