FOR RELEASE: Immediate CONTACT: Jim Manion KENNY CITES TAX RELIEF FOR WEEHAWKEN AND GUTTENBERG TRENTON - Senate Majority Leader Bernard F. Kenny Jr. today said the Extraordinary Aid Grants of $900,000 for Weehawken and $250,000 for Guttenberg will help ease the property tax burdens for residents of the two Hudson County communities. "The awarding of these grants means the State believes that Weehawken and Guttenberg are making good efforts to contain property taxes, but still face unforeseen budgetary problems which are beyond their control," said Senator Kenny. The Hudson County Democratic Senator said the Extraordinary Aid Program, administered by the Division of Local Government Services, approves grants to applicants who demonstrate that they have attempted to implement property tax savings, but still face additional need for tax relief. "These grants will provide some much-need relief to property taxpayers in Weehawken and Guttenberg," Senator Kenny said. "Both communities have a right to be proud that their applications were approved." #
