Ramapo students ask Codey to stay out of president search Associated Press MAHWAH, N.J. - Ramapo College students have collected 2,200 signatures on a petition asking acting Gov. Richard J. Codey to stay out of the search for a new president at the 5,600-student school. The petitions, sent to the offices of Codey and other lawmakers, were gathered after Codey asked the college board's president in mid-November about State Sen. Joseph Doria Jr.'s getting the position. Codey also is scheduled to appoint two members to the North Jersey state college's 11-member board of trustees, a prospect that has raised concerns about increased political influence. Codey's office did not comment on the issue. The 20-person search committee did not choose Doria (D., Hudson) as one of the five semifinalists late last month. Interviews with those candidates have begun. Daniel Makoski, vice president of the student government association, said the group had circulated petitions because of concern that politicians might be interfering with the search.
