Just heard that Peter Weiss passed away. Whether you agreed with his views or not, his column was one of the best and only reasons to read the Jersey Journal. His passing is a great loss to Hudson County and his commentary will be sorely missed, especially during this upcoming controversial freeholder race. Peter's death should also remind us all to take a moment to remind ourselves not only of the fragility of human life, but that the politicians and candidates and others whose opinions and characters are attacked on this forum (and elsewhere) are people too. They are not simply mindless, souless objects that exist for us to vent our frustrations toward or to vilify, but they ARE human beings with feelings who are loved by their families and friends and they should be respected as such by those who seek intelligent, rational discussion of the issues at hand.
