JERSEY CITY— Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham and Hispanic leaders will call on Governor James McGreevey to nominate a Hispanic to the anticipated vacancy on the State Supreme Court during a rally Thursday, October 2, 2003 at City Hall, 280 Grove Street.
Cunningham, a career law enforcement official who spent four years as a United States Marshal, said it is essential in the justice process that the law enforcement body and the judicial bodies reflect the population. He and leaders from the Hispanic community are calling for McGreevey to nominate a Hispanic to replace Justice Peter G. Verniero, who announced he would resign for the bench in August 2004. ///
