Who’s NOT Next-The Non Target Letter With the rumor mill revving over the red line all sorts of weird stories float around and odd behavior is observed. There has been a distinct absence of outbursts from Bernie Kenny Jr. this week though. We are beginning to feel unloved but some observers take this to be a sign of resignation. One friendly HCDO type even approached one of our reporters to brag that they were in possession of a non-target letter. The reporter has not seen the letter. The US Attorney according to the recipient wrote a letter saying that they were not the subject of a criminal investigation by federal law enforcement officials. Around here that’s something. We are happy for you. And you know who you are. We had falsely implied earlier that the recipient of the “non-target letter” was in fact about to go down. We stand corrected and for that we apologize. But is this a sign of the times or what? To brag that you have just gotten a non-target letter is really an amazing commentary on Hudson County politics in our opinion. We promised to keep our mouths shut so we will not tell you who it was that got this unicorn in writing. We can tell you who it was not. It was not a Cuban American congressman, a career politician Senator, a Hoboken major developer, or an attorney formerly from Union City and high school chum of the Cuban American congressman. These ones are not protected species and are all still fair game in season. You may resume worrying now.
