According to a recent news report the state’s Department of Community Affairs said Hoboken was denied aid because the proposed budget doesn’t contain a property tax increase. “What I find amazing is Hoboken, a city in Assemblyman Sires’ district, is denied aid and he is silent,” Assembly candidate Elise DiNardo said. “Sires voted to send $175 million to Camden and does nothing to help Hoboken, in his own district.” Assembly candidate Jose Munoz added, “Sires’ close relationship with South Jersey leaders, George Norcross and Assemblyman Roberts, who backed him to become the Assembly Speaker definitely affects his ability to be loyal to his district.” DiNardo concluded, “Perhaps if Sires fought to stop Governor McGreevey from handing out 700 new non-classified jobs for the politically connected worth $54 million Hoboken would have been given aid.” # # #
