That his life meant nothing. That cops are bad and skin color is everything! : : : : : Like many people, I too was shocked and outraged by the verdict in the murder trial of Police Officer Domenick Infantes. The devastation and disappointment of this verdict will be felt for a long time. The Infantes family has suffered the worst loss imaginable. Their pain and suffering was compounded by having to sit and listen while their loved one was ripped apart in court, almost blamed for causing his own death. : : For over two years now I have read many inaccurate stories about the night of July 4. I have tried to have them corrected, but without success. As a matter of fact, to this day, no reporter from The Jersey Journal has ever contacted or interviewed any of the people that were there on July 4. Unfortunately, a lot of people did not know Dom. They only know what they read in the paper. It was very upsetting to read the defense's version of events almost word for word printed in the paper. Their lies are outrageous and hurtful, and are totally without any proof or evidence. They even went so far as to accuse Brian Belka of criminal acts and blame him for the entire incident. That was printed. : : : : : : Just then Dom came out of our (my parents') yard. He must have heard me yelling. Dom immediately identified himself as a police officer and held up his badge. He asked everyone to calm down. He told Brian to leave. Other people from our party were also outside now and they stayed with Brian over by our car. Dom told the Gavinas to put down the pipes. They refused and began to yell at Dom to show them his gun to prove he was a police officer and started yelling things about cops. Dom told me to "Call 911, tell them officer needs assistance." My father was standing there also, so he ran in and called 911. The Gavinas were still holding the pipes, refusing to put them down or go inside. : : The police were on their way. Brian and I decided to leave. We were getting into the car when we heard a commotion. As I turned I saw the pipes raised like baseball bats and I saw Dom lying on the ground. Brian had also seen this and ran over to the fence because one of the Gavinas was holding the pipe up, getting ready to hit again. Brian grabbed the guy from our side of the fence and Brian got hit in the head with a pipe. The fence collapsed and Brian, Alfredo Gavina, and the pipe landed in the grass where I was standing. I looked down and Brian's head was split completely open. Just then, the police arrived and then the Gavinas began to fight with them. : : There was no self-defense needed because the Gavinas were never attacked. Brian and Dom were never there together. There were no injuries, marks or bruises on either of the Gavinas. What the Gavinas did have on them were weapons, which they took out immediately when it was only me and Brian. There were no bruises because there was no attack. Their lies were created because there was no other way to explain their vicious, brutal attack and blatant disrespect and disregard for the law. : : God bless Dom. TINA BELKA Jersey City
