If refinancing is to happen and make any sense there is the issue of proper use of funds and a strategic plan going forward to insure the proper use of the funds. Refinance must be tied to other objectives or it is simply an empty barrel. Streamlining government, reducing the cost to deliver services, and insuring the jobs growth are some of those objectives. In order to streamline Jersey City must be a new county to itself the rest is simple. Now the restrictions the Hudson County government places on the city makes it nothing but a football in a weird game. By removing the Hudson County from Jersey City the taxes would go down, growth in housing both upper and lower would go up, and jobs would be created. Jersey City like other municipal structures across the nation must stop being a political subdivision and servant of rich suburban communities that manipulate them for their benefit. While the answer fiscally speaking is refinance the concern of proper use must be addressed. The City Council which has HCDO written all over it is trying to back Glenn into a corner aided by Ayala and others into raising taxes to avoid a short fall in debt servicing. This political game is unacceptable because most of the members of the Council do not have to live with the ramifications of their game especially those that live elsewhere and only have a titular residence in the city for political reasons. We the people of Jersey City demand control of our destiny
