I can't ever figger out why, but Lou Manzo does get taken seriously. This is his only talent.

He started out as a pain in the you-know-what health inspector under McCann. Instead of educating and guiding the properties that he inspected in the right direction, Manzo would grandstand running to the newspapers to get headlines. Everybody both in 595 Newark Ave and 280 Grove used to call him that little suchandsuch back then.

When MerryGerry began his vacation, the powersthatbe were silly enough to buy Lou Manzo and stick him out on the stage as a phoney citizenactivist. That didn't work and BobbyJ got Bret Schundler.

So littleLou moves out of town and nestled in the cosy bosom of CountyGov, collects a pay check and benefits for the next decade.

I gotta hand it to Lou for that throway rag that he mailed out during last year's mayor election. I don't know how many people I ran into who repeated Manzo's campaign yammer as if it was the Gospel. When I asked them where they got the yimmer from, they'd reply, "I read it in the paper."

: : Who will replace Cunningham as mayor?

: : Making even more political enemies countywide than most political observers ever imagined possible, Jersey City Mayor Glenn Cunningham's continuing political defeats have some people speculating who could replace him in three years. A month before the primary to determine if Bernard Hartnett - supported by Cunningham - will get the Democratic nod for county executive, speculation on Cunningham's future has already begun, with names as diverse as Freeholder Bill O'Dea, Jersey City Councilwoman Mary Donnelly and former Freeholder Lou Manzo mentioned.

: : See the Link for the rest of Al Sullivan's the Between the Lines

: Al Sullivan has to be the least astute guy ever to cove rJC politics.Cunningham is being brought down by by a coalition of leaders put together by Menendez.Whoever the next mayor will be will come from that group.Manzo is alined with Glenn, so is O'dea.Mary is trying to play the middle but has lost friends on both sides.Gaughan, Maldonado, Vega or Lipski are far more likely.Besides how many more times does Louie need to be pasted before people know its over. This type of silly reporting merely indicates that Sullivan only talks to this clique of wannabees and parrots their musings. I'm surprised Fricchione's name hasn't popped up.
