I moved here about fifteen years ago and so far have seen many lost causes wash up on shore, but these new signs all over the place surely top all. And why are most of them covered with garbage bags? are they not spelled right? In the neighborhood here there got to be maybe a dozen in every direction for the heights library like its the eight wonder of the world. Most everybody that goes there is a grammar school student or a senior and they all walk. Why all these driving directions? There's no art gallery there that people are going to travel for. Then there is all the signs for central avenue shopping. Does maybe the rest of the region have no 99 cent stores so they all want to be directed here? And who designed these things? In Jersey CIty we have some very good designers living right here, many who work for top NYC retailer. These signs have silly arcs and dovetails. I hope that this was a 4th grader competition! And the colors! Every design magazine and article related this season how wonderful it is that people have matured past red and green for christmas, able now to appreciate pastels, gold and ivory. And here is these signs red and green like for chinatown on canal. Plus, it is surely common sense, if not international convention, that red is to be only used for emergency facilities, like hospitals or firehouses, Here these signs many are red with green trim for just about any trivial thing, And of course the green with red trim is only worse yet for it is hard to read! Plus, the signs are not reflective which makes for very difficult viewing at night.
