I ended my statement with the childish "Rubber-Glue" rhyme that children throw back & forth at each other.

I can't wait to see what the return volley will be.

My point is that no matter which side lobs the first volley, the other side feels absolutely compelled to return it. Their absolute childishness does not affect them but us. So while all sides engage in this game, we sink further into the hole. I dread the size of the ladder we'll need to climb out.
