In the first place, let me address the Congressman, and let me do that without equivocation -- you will not get away with this. You've involved yourself in a lot of messes over the years without staining your suit, but not this time. You can't get a a dozen words out of your mouth without uttering the phrase "working people." Don't play the Judas goat by trying to deliver the working people of Jersey City to the slaughter at the hands of that notorious anti-Labor figure, Bret Schundler. It won't work. If you try, you'll be out of power forever. The same goes for anyone that you try to hide behind. And for Schundler, examine your options. Bob Grant will probably retire soon and Rush Limbaugh has been discredited. You'll do well in talk radio. It's obvious that the HCDO is looking for a Great White Hope to challenge Glenn Cunningham. But why would Schundler want to become mayor of Jersey City again? Because the Board of Education of Jersey City will soon return to municipal control, that's why. And, as Mr. Schundler, echoing the bank robber Willy Sutton, often says, "that's where the money is." What will the people of Jersey City see with Schundler controlling the Jersey City Public Schools? You don't need a crystal ball. Examine Schundler's record as mayor. and what's been going on at the Golden Door Charter School, from which that notorious utlra-right wing Schundlerite, Paul Schaeder has just been ousted. The school payroll will get padded with every useless hack willing to hand out flyers for Schundler on election day. A sorry parade of law suits to promote school prayer will be used to draw attention from the fact that the delivery of necessary services is plummeting through mismanagement. The schools will be used as a beach head to advance anti-Labor practices. The best the public schools might expect is benign neglect. At the same time, taxpayer dollars will be diverted to private schools. Don't forget that the Christian Reich leader Dan Cassidy (aide to Schundler for many years thanks to the taxpayers of Jersey City) is now federal regional education head. What might he and Schundler have in mind? And one might ask where the money is for Bret Schundler. He doesn't seemed concerned with his own political career. And please don't mention "sincerity." Could the big payday for Schundler be as a fundraiser for extremist religious and anti-Labor groups?
