Odds all favor DeGise Peter Weiss, Jersey Journal, 06/01/02 The focus of Tuesday's Hudson County Democratic primary is in Jersey City, for that's where there's the most uncertainty and where Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham may be fighting for his political life, only one year after his history-making victory as the city's first African-American chief executive. Cunningham heads the faction that backs interim County Executive Bernard Hartnett Jr. It's up against the county's other 11 mayors and most other party leaders, who back former Jersey City Council President Tom DeGise for county executive. It's hard to imagine Hartnett and Cunningham overcoming those odds. The Democratic organizations in the North Hudson and West Hudson municipalities should pour it in for DeGise, whose most prominent supporter is U.S. Rep.
