Bret is a viable candidate because Cunningham is such a failure as a leader. Whether you like Bret or not, his intelligence and ego made sure that (to a point) he stayed focused on the city's agenda. Bret obviously had an agenda that went far beyond Jersey City, but this town was his idiological incubator. And there's the difference between Schundler and Cunningham... Bret had an agenda...a vision...a plan. Cunningham has nothing but greed and a belief that he is destined to be the first black Mayor. Nothing more. Cunningham never talks about us...the residents and our lives. He never talks about lifting the black community economically or socially. He talks about how impotant he is, and what he is going to do...and how we should be glad to be the recipients of his largese. Well guess what Glenn old boy, we don't need to beg for scraps from your table. Bret may be a bit pompous, and he is an ideolog, but his fundamental drive is to create a legacy for himself as having done good things for our city. Cunningham's drive is to line his pockets and that of his cronies who feel that they have been over-looked for too long. I don't think the choice will be a hard one for Jersey City to make when these two go head to head. Something tells me Cunningham will soon be drawing upon his marine pension, his JCPD police pension, his Hudson County pension, his US Marshal's pension...and oh yeah....his PERS State Pension. Something tells me that financially Cunningham will do very well in retirement. : Hang on Jersey City Taxpayers, Help is on the Way.Poll has Bret Beating the Mayor -Man easily. The Sun is starting to shine again on Jersey City And its Taxpayers.Amen.
