Manzo, chief of staff? The same Manzo who regularly castigates the mayor? Yes, the same, who now sees himself as an invaluable asset to Cunningham.

If this is all a surprise to Bill Ayala, who happens to be the mayor's chief of staff as of this writing - we can't vouch for what happens by the time you read this - well, nothing should surprise him anymore. Manzo says Ayala is largely responsible for Cunningham's present politi- the support of only two of nine City Council members.
