: Richard Piatkowski Republican candidate for the House of Representatives, 13th Congressional District, today issued the following statement:

: "For our men and women making innumerable sacrifices in the American effort to bring Liberty and Democracy to the people of Iraq, I have the highest respect and regard.

: "I am deeply troubled that one valiant young man, Steven Fulop, on returning home from Iraq now must struggle to bring Democracy to Hudson County.  

: "Just like those bands of criminal miscreants bedeviling U.S. troops in Iraq, Mr. Fulop's cowardly opponents refuse to fight in the open.  Instead of a healthy measure and review of policy and record, an on the sly operation of back room machinations, legalistic shenanigans, and dirty tricks attack Mr. Fulop from behind and under the cover of darkness. 

: "In the campaign leading to this autumn's upcoming general election, I look forward to an energetic discussion of the issues with the candidate freely and openly chosen by the Democratic voters of the 13th Congressional District.  I call on Bob Menendez to publicly declare the same."
