: Attorney Kenneth C. Marano, a Jersey City resident for ten years, is the Republican Party Candidate for Surrogate of Hudson County. He was born in Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck, New Jersey and spent his early years growing up in River Edge. He graduated from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. As a pre-law student he majored in English Literature and minored in Philosophy Mr. Marano graduated from South Texas College of Law, Houston, Texas where he earned a Juris Doctor Degree. 

: Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Marano practiced for eight years in Pennsylvania. He maintained a limited general practice of law with particular emphasis in the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning and administration, custody and matrimonial law, real estate, personal injury and social security disability. He specialized in trial work in those areas and early in his career focused primarily on criminal defense of major crimes including murder. Mr. Marano also served as an Assistant Solicitor (Attorney) for the City of Wilkes-Barre Township. 

: Mr. Marano brought his legal expertise to his native New Jersey where he was admitted to practice in 1982. He continued to broaden his litigation experience by practicing in the areas of bankruptcy law, workers compensation, general contract and real estate litigation. He also returned to his early roots in criminal law and served as a prosecutor for two municipalities. 

: Mr. Marano has been an active Trial Attorney handling cases in virtually every area of the law. He has appeared and presented cases before Administrative Courts, Government Agency or Boards and Planning and Zoning Boards. He regularly appears and tries cases in the Superior Court of New Jersey for Hudson, Passaic and Bergen County’s. He has appeared and argued cases before the Appellate Courts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania as well as recently arguing an insurance case before New Jersey’s Supreme Court. One of his Appeals in Pennsylvania resulted in a change in the manner the Department of Motor Vehicle assessed points against licenses. He also defended a case that established/confirmed the requirement for Police to have reasonable cause before stopping a motorist and requiring the person submit to a Breathalyzer. 

: Mr. Marano has an Office in Jersey City. He is also Of Counsel to the Law Office of Norberto H. Yacano, which is located in Paterson. He has throughout his career managed not only his caseload and clients but also all of the staff necessary to maintain an active practice of Law. 

: Mr. Marano is licensed to appear and practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for New Jersey, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Middle Districts Courts of Pennsylvania and all State County Courts in both New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. 

: He is a member of Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity and served recently as its District XX II (New Jersey, Delaware and Eastern Pennsylvania) Justice. 

: Mr. Marano has two children, Scott and Kristin. His son is a graduate of Berkley College of Music and Salve Regina University. He is currently employed by the Marriott Corporation in Newport, Rhode Island. His daughter Kristin is a graduate of the University of Indiana and is a geologist working for Brown and Caldwell located in Allendale.
