McCann answers Gaughan's claims with some of his own Tuesday, May 18, 2004 . . . "That could be criminal, defrauding the taxpayers," McCann said in an interview. "An average citizen could argue that they didn't know but (Gaughan) can't have that excuse." McCann said the property also has an unapproved curb cut providing access to a driveway into the funeral home's parking lot. That lot has also been improperly expanded, McCann said. Neither the curb cut nor the parking lot change had been approved by the planning board, according to McCann. The discrepancies prompted McCann to request that zoning officials be sent to investigate the house. . . . Responding to the charges, Gaughan said the house in question is in compliance with all zoning regulations. "It's a legal two-family house," he said. "There are two families living there."
