Please tell me Conman Cunningham will do something of substance in Trenton other than get meaningless Bills passed so that he can send out press releases saying he's doing somthing. Just another double-dipping dipstick like Sharp James. : TRENTON - A bill sponsored by Senator Glenn D. Cunningham that would increase the membership of the Amistad Commission from 19 to 23 members was approved today by the Senate. : According to the bill, S-1159, the four new members of the Commission would be two Senators and two members of the Assembly. Currently, the Amistad Commission consists of 19 members, including representatives of the Secretary of State, Commissioner of Education and the executive board of the Presidents Council. Of the 19 members, there are 16 public members who have interest in African American history. : The Amistad Commission was named for a group of enslaved Africans who overthrew the crew of the Amistad, the vessel that was transporting them. The vessel anchored off the coast of Long Island, NY and the African passengers were put on trial. The case was argued by the Supreme Court, who granted the passengers their freedom. : This measure now heads to the Governor. : ### :
