MAY THE MAYOR REST IN PEACE.
May God give his family the strength to get thru these hard times.

That said

When the mayor died everybody either paid their respects via posts or if any negative vibes were sent out , they would post--Lets put aside all our complaints for now. Like a truce. Then people started posting how the political bosses are going to keep up the "GOOD WORK". And now people are starting to post their gripes. A 3 day truce.

Good- he was a fine mayor. May he rest in peace. But this is the same man who when I asked "What about the drug problem in the Heights?' He replied "Re-elect me and in 2005 I will bring my drug program to the Heights". "WHAT?? " I said. "Why wait to get re-elected to get rid of an on-going problem?".

I have seen the Heights go from Great to HELL. Almost every where I go in Jersey City s--ucks. Sure there are pockets here and there but mostly it s--ucks.
I went to the north precint to report a drug problem in the Heights and I first spoke to a sargent. After he told me how they, the people who are "allegedly" dealing -amongst other things, have "Rights", I was asked if my friend lived in the house. When I told him "no" he replied "Do they have insurance??" I swear that is what he said. I have spoken to at least 5 police officers -from a regular cop up to a LT. . and I have yet to receive a phone call and the problem is still there.

Even at 10Pm. when the noise ord. goes into effect the cops do not drive by and say something. What it looks like is the Heights is getting the shaft because it was so good back in the 50s' to 70's??

People just don't seem to care. They are only concerned about themselves and I can see why. Almost everyone I spoke to in the last year who works a regular job for the city--meter maid to fireman- act like they don't give 2 squats about the city.
"Just let me get in my time and then collect" should be their club name.
I remember when if you would talk to the guy driving the sweeper he liked it that you did not look down on him(I don't know why but some of them thought it was a being a servant). The garbage guys were friendly and the firemen hung out in front of the firehouse and you could go inside and get something to drink without them following you. That negative attitude toward the city is a major problem stoping the comeback of Jersey City. Nobody seems to notice that. If people would just look around and say "Enough'....

Sorry about the length but I could write a book on my feelings about what is happening in Jersey City. The fact that no-one seems to care enough to face up to the problem and at least try to do something
