: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
: June 9 , 2004

: Former Democratic Candidate for New Jersey’s 13th Congressional District Thanks the People of New Jersey for Tremendous Opportunity
: Open Letter From Steven Fulop to the People of the 13th Congressional District
: Jersey City, New Jersey — The following is an open letter from Steven Fulop, former Democratic Challenger for New Jersey’s 13th Congressional District to the people of the District:

: First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to formally congratulate Robert Menendez and the entire HCDO on their primary win. Regardless, of ideological differences I am thankful to have had the opportunity to increase the dialogue regarding the future of the 13th congressional district.

: From a personal standpoint, I am proud, and I feel my friend Glenn Cunningham had he been alive today would echo the same sentiment towards what we have accomplished. Just think, in a mere 7 weeks of campaigning with a budget of around twenty thousand dollars versus the hundreds of thousands of dollars that were spent against us we garnered a larger percentage of the vote than anyone could have predicted. We stuck to issues, we stayed positive, and the mere fact of an alternative choice on the ballot forced our incumbents to improve their dialogue on the issues as well. This is certainly something that benefits all of us whether you are a Fulop supporter or a Menendez supporter.

: I would also like to thank the people of the 13th congressional district who supported me through this process. They put their faith in a political newcomer who didn't have a policy track record but rather a track record of merely doing the "right" thing whether for our country or for our neighborhoods. Going forward I am hopeful and eager to work towards a united democratic party in Hudson county with an unwavering perspective that the people of Hudson County are ALWAYS first. I know that together we can make more progress towards a better and brighter tomorrow for the entire district.
: Once again congratulations to Robert Menendez and the entire HCDO. And finally, Glenn, thank you for the opportunity and you will always be in my heart.
: Steven M. Fulop

We love you and God Bless You
