What a letter! Doria's comment was an insult to my family I have followed Mr. Joseph Doria's career over the years and until now have seldom found fault with the manner in which he has conducted his political business. How he could proudly stand as the appointed state senator of District 31 after having actively pursued this honor within hours of my brother's death is beyond belief. That he should say "God works in strange ways" when describing the basis for his ascension is not only an insult to my family but is also further proof of the contempt that he has for the electoral process that defeated him in June, and the judicial system which in September dismissed his frivolous attempt to disenfranchise the citizens of District 31. I am not naive; I understand the adversarial process. I have lived within it for most of my adult life. But I have always thought there were rules of common decency that controlled the manner in which opposing forces dealt with each other. Apparently this is a concept that Mr. Doria, in the fullness of his arrogance does not understand. On a more personal level Sen. Doria, you may not physically occupy Glenn's Senate seat, but you will never possess the courage, the strength of character, or the integrity to fill it with honor it deserves. ELAINE CUNNINGHAM GARDNER Sister of the late Honorable Glenn. D. Cunningham Jersey City
