No matter what a friend or relative does, voters won't hold it against a candidate unless there's overwhelming proof of direct involvement. An attempt by an opponent to poison the well will most likely backfire. Of course, if Lou Manzo was innocently expecting/hoping for his brother's help, that resource is gone. : to be a fool is not to be a thief. when people use inside information in trading securities they profit from other's ignorance and ultimately their loosses. colorful is not the same as corrupt. : : Guilt by association is not a popular activity. : : As both Presidents Carter and Clinton prove, having a "colorful" sibling isn't a drawback. And that certainly goes at least double here in Hudson County. : : One thing is important, though. On the part of the candidate, there must be no hint of involvement in the suspect activity. : : The chance of success for a Manzo campaign remains undiminished. Of course, what those odds are is open to interpretation -- and finally testing by contest.
