These signs are popping up all over town. Basically, a good looking print job, but with a big fundamental problem -- what's he running for? You gotta put real clear in your message -- especially at the beginning -- FOR ThisOffice. It would seem that the idea of these generic signs is to get a discount on quantity and then use the same joblot on another election. Maybe jog-like for Mayor this goround and then run for Council or Council-at-Large in May. This square wheel of a concept just ain't gonna roll. If you try to reuse any graphic, the voters'll just zone it out -- figgering it's just something old still stuck up from the last election. Plus, you gotta project confidence and determination from the getgo. If your message is that you're campaignin', but don't expect to win, you're better off not bothering in the first place. BTW, I don't know Jim Carroll. I had to be reminded that he ran for Council in 2001. My criticism is not of him, but of the campaign tactic. Something else to bear in mind is that the Central Ave SID generally removes all signs muy pronto, so plastering them this early is a wasted effort. The competition also works very hard at removing signs. . .
