Committeeman-elect Angelo Stracquantanio Maybe the owner failed to provide the tab you wanted and you took this as a reason to shut down a hard working businessman. Maybe you are a Socialist and think your idea of quality of life should be everyones idea? But you are probably just looking for a cause to get elected having done nothing of merit. : Friday, June 25, 2004 : Letters to the Editor : In May of this year, myself and Committeeman-elect Angelo Stracquantanio went door-to-door on Western and Terrace avenues garnering support to attend the Alcohol Beverage Control meeting to oppose the application for transferring The Foxes Night Club license. This club, while still under suspension for numerous violations during its operation, is looking to transfer their ABC license from Saint Paul's Avenue to 555 Tonnelle Avenue in the Heights. This is something we don't need in our neighborhood. : On May 20, we attended this ABC hearing with several other residents, including Councilman William Gaughan to oppose this application. At this hearing, we, the public, were allowed to voice our opinions regarding this application. About 15 residents spoke out opposing this transfer for various different reasons. I, myself, objected to the limited notice to the Western Slope residents. At this time the ABC board informed me that the small announcement in The Jersey Journal and the mailing out of notifications to residents within 200 feet radius was all that was needed. To all that I still objected. After the ABC board discussed this application in private, a vote of 3-0 was rendered allowing this transfer. : Now, we must present this to our City Council members. We need to ask them to review this issue of a troubled nightclub and to consider using their authority in overturning the ABC's vote. This is not good for a community with a blossoming future with unlimited potential. Please voice your objections. : SEAN CONNORS Jersey City : : Foxes has a notorious past. It had one when I went there & it was known as the Off Track Lounge. The owner steadfastly denies any culpability; it's not his fault that these "things" happen. But it is - his establishment fosters & attracts that kind of clientele. : Please make your voices heard.
