I'm sure that Chief Buonocore would be a solid contender on his own. Of course, Sandra Cunningham's nod will help.

The real one-two punch will be if Sandra Cunningham is running for State Senate. Then, with Sandra and Ron campaigning together, Ronald Buonocore can assure Bayonne that the Cunningham name means safe streets Then, whatever hope Doria has of holding onto the Senate Seat fades fast. And in Jersey City, if Ron is on a Cunningham ticket, he can expect a big turnout in Ward F.

In the City's other Wards, there's no reason to expect Jerramiah Healy, Lou Manzo, or L. Harvey Smith to have any overwhelming advantage over Ronald Buonocore. Healy, Manzo, and Smith might have an edge in name recogntion -- right now. Certainly, they won't be able to use law and order as an issue if running against the Police Chief.

Would Ronald Buonocore have to take a leave of absence from the Police Chief job if he decides to run for Mayor
