that the Division of Taxation has begun mailing the Property Tax Reimbursement (PTR), checks to eligible applicants. The Division has until September 1 to issue reimbursement checks for applicants who filed between May 1 and June 1, 2004. Reimbursements for applications received after June 1, but before the extended filing deadline of August 2, 2004, will be issued as quickly as possible. : Chiappone stated, “The Division of Taxation has informed me that this year's checks represent the amount of the reimbursement based on the 2003 application. In the case of eligible applicants who filed for the first time last year but did not receive a check, the 2003 reimbursement represents the difference between the amount of the 2003 property taxes paid and the amount of the 2001 (base year) taxes. If anyone has any questions about the status of their PTR checks please feel free to call my office at 201-437-2442. In addition, with the extension to August 2 of the filing deadline for Property Tax Reimbursement, my office will be happy to help those who require assistance in filling out their forms as well as check for eligibility.” : The Division is mailing more than 80,000 checks, which average $416. In addition, we are mailing 17,000 notices to applicants who did not provide all the necessary information and/or documentation required to issue a reimbursement. : Chiappone notes that residents may also send an inquiry to the Division of Taxation e-mail address: njpropertytaxrelief@tax.state.nj.us. : The Property Tax Reimbursement Hotline is: 1-800-882-6597 (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Mon-Fri) TTY Equipment Users: 1-800-286-6613 or 609-984-7300 Taxation e-mail address: taxation@tax.state.nj.us :
