Back in April 1997, I wrote a letter to the Jersey Journal criticizing the Schundler Administration and specifically then Councilwoman Nancy Gaynor.

Tom was doing everything to get his wife re-elected.

The day the letter was published, I got home and on my answering machine was a male’s voice threatening me and I better keep quiet up or something was going to happen to my family. He went into some details as to he was watching me and my family.

When I replayed the tape I could hear others on phones in the background, but what was very evident was the caller was slurring his words. Sounded as if he had come back from a liquid lunch.

Having caller ID and checking the time on the answering machine tape, the call came from Lehman Brothers. The following day I called Lehman Brothers, spoke to someone high up and explained the issue. I played the tape and they immediately identified it as Tom Gaynor. His own company not only outted him, but was willing to assist me if I choose to go further with the threatening phone call. Lehman told me they would give me their tape of Gaynor they record of all brokers they records for transaction purposes to show it was indeed him.
