State Dems splintering over McG The Trentonian . . . All the same, a McGreevey administration official was believed yesterday to have ratted out U.S. Rep. Bob Menendez, concerning a tryst the congressman allegedly had with a woman. "Menendez has no room to talk. Serves him right after being on his high horse," another Democrat lawmaker said yesterday. . . . Menendez is leading the Hudson County Democrats’ effort to oust McGreevey immediately and force a November special election. State House insiders say Menendez would expect to slide into U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine’s seat by forcing a special election, presumably with Corzine running for governor. Corzine is the odds-on favorite as the Democratic gubernatorial candidate in a special election this year or the regularly scheduled election next year. Menendez has played a calculated game to see Corzine move into the governor’s office so he can move into the Senate. Senate Democratic leader Bernie Kenny, D-Hoboken, led his own charge to oust McGreevey early to help assembly speaker Albio Sires slip into the congressional seat held by Menendez. Menendez is said to be locked in a bitter power struggle with McGreevey chief of staff Jamie Foxx, and Kenny is said to have made a long list of enemies along the way too. Middlesex County kingmaker John Lynch, Camden County party boss George Norcross and Menendez have been the most vocal McGreevey opponents. The salvo aimed at Menendez was the latest in an uncivil war among Democrats, in which "outing" has become the main weapon in a game of political bloodbath. . . .
