I'm not saying that voting on character is a poor idea. I think it's a good idea if there was a way to get a legitimate sense of the characters we're supposed to be evaluating. But I'm not sure there is. So I'll be casting my vote -- and encouraging others to cast theirs -- based on vision, not percieved competency. I'll vote for the candidate whose articulated vision for Jersey City seems to me yo be the wisest.
