Bayonne - The most recent round of campaign fundraising reports show that upstart candidate for the 31st District Senate seat, Vincent Militello, has out raised his machine opponents. While the reports show that Militello has doubled his own war chest since the January campaign filing, they also clearly indicate that his opponents are having trouble bringing in non-machine money yet another sign that Militello is poised to upset the two Jersey City insiders in the race. Contrary to reports published on PoliticsNJ.com that Militello reported zero dollars in the previous filing, reports filed with the state since October of last year show an obvious pattern that Militello’s candidacy is gaining ground. The May 6, 2003 report showed Militello with nearly $65,000 dollars raised. His competitors have raised less. “Unlike my opponents who are taking the bulk of their money from their machine organizations and other campaign accounts, I have relied on community and individual donations to help support my campaign,” Militello said. “There is a clear distinction in this race. There are the machine-sponsored candidacies of my two opponents and then there is a movement among the voters of the 31st District I am their candidate.” Militello, a 37-year-old former Marine Corps Captain and Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor, is a lifelong resident of Bayonne with fresh ideas and a hard work ethic that can shock Trenton into taking action to lower property taxes, combat spiraling auto insurance premiums and improve our children’s schools. Militello is a Democrat who can bring a visionary approach to the one-size-fits-all thinking that plagues Trenton. “While the two Hudson County machines battle over who they think should represent the 31st District, I’ve been out talking with voters about who they think should be the next state senator,” Militello said. “The response is overwhelming. People want someone who will go to Trenton as a full-time legislator to look out for what is best for the people of Bayonne and Jersey City, not a double-dipping politician who can’t devote his time to the voters that elect him.” For more information about the Militello for State Senate campaign, contact Mircalla Wozniak or Katie Dowd at (201) 339-8020 or stop by the campaign headquarters at 536 Broadway in Bayonne.
