Hadley is a Healy Guy! : As part of the Republican National Convention, 200 Young Republicans are traveling around the tri‑state area to help give something back to the Convention's host community. Hudson County GOP Chair Jose Arango worked in conjunction with Kate Whitman, Governor Whitman's daughter, to bring these volunteers into Jersey City. At the historic Apple Tree House in Jersey City, the volunteers spent 4 hours weeding, clearing and pruning the greenery, painting the fence, and planting a macintosh tree. This project included bi‑partisan participation, with Mayor L. Harvey Smith stopping by to welcome the young volunteers, and the Jersey City Division of Parks and Forestry who supplied tools, dumpsters and some manpower. When all was said and done, 4 dumpsters were filled with debris and the Apple Tree House grounds received a long‑overdue face lift. MTV's Rock the Vote reporters were on site, as well as local newspapers and TV.
