Jersey City Council President L. Harvey Smith, aka Uncle Harvey, has recently risen dramatically in the poles according to his own press releases. We believe him. Even if the statement is self-serving, that does not mean that it isn’t true. And we are glad because they could only have gone up. We are not sure if it is possible to have a negative name recognition factor. That would make Harvey the equivalent of a black hole in marketing. Of course Harvey is hoping that we would take that to mean opinion polls.

What he really means is utility poles. He has risen sharply. That is mostly due to his recent hiring of very tall campaign workers, particularly Arnold Williams. Because of his great height and reach, Williams is able to affix campaign literature to the poles much higher from the ground than they had been. Williams single-handedly accounts for the reason Harvey has risen so sharply in the poles or on the polls.
