I'd be curious to know if the post below, purportedly from Jim Kennelly, is really from him. If it is, it was a rather hysterical and ill-conceived defense of a company, Hindsight, which has done a poor job in County government for years while remaining, on the whole, totally unaccountable. Don't get me wrong. I'm no Poreda supporter. But as someone who has observed the performance of Mr. Delaney's company for years, I believe it is highly disingenuous for Mr. Kennelly to defend Hindsight as best qualified to receive the County contract. Any survey of County staff will reveal that most are totally dissatisfied with the computer support and services Hindsight provides. As for the "old telcom" structure that the County uses; Hindsight has had over 15 years to address this issue and has done little or nothing. Hindsight is a small and undistinguised firm from Central New Jersey, with an owner who has learned to use the Hudson County political system very well. Mr. Delaney has spent years schmoozing County pols, from Janiszewski to Perselay to Antun to Menendez. He has contributed thousands of dollars to make sure his contract remained in place. Mr. Kennelly, if you did indeed post the comments below, please don't insult our intelligence by maintaining there was no favoritism in this contract process. "Competitive contracting" can easily be manipulated to favor a preferred vendor. I am sure Mr. Antun and his minions greased the skids for Hindsight to win.
