Here's the letter from the State Board of Elections. It says that the County committee is to choose the candidate in the special election. Perhaps someone from the HCDO will let us know the mechanics of the process. Did HCDO Chair Bernard Kenny make the choice? Was an election held to determine the candidate? From the letter it appears that the nomination of a candidate is independent of last Spring's election of the person to hold the seat up to the special election. : Pick sounds bad? Choice sounds good? So, if you go to an auto dealer to pick out a car, that's something bad, huh? Warren Buffet describes himself as a stock picker. Does he suffer from self-loathing? : I don't see why you prefer the word choice. I like pick better. It has a certain Hemingway directness and LACK of connotation baggage. Which is why I picked it! : Joe Doria was elected by the Democratic Party Committee members of the 31st District -- the majority of whom were aligned with the HCDO -- to serve in the State Senate until the special election. My understanding is that the Hudson Democratic Organization was not bound by that Committee election in their selection of a candidate (choice, pick, nomination, or whatever word you like best). Clearly, the HCDO named the same person they supported in the Committee election -- Joe Doria. Later today, I'll post the official letter. : The HCDO supports Joe Doria. As the County Democratic Organization, they have the ability (right, power -- again use the word you like best) to name a candidate. People that like Joe Doria are happy with that. Those that don't want Joe Doria to serve in the State Senate for the next five years need to circulate petitions to enable someone to run against him -- as the supporters of Chiappone, Tayari, and Watson have done. : I'm presuming that the HCDO maintains that Joe Doria's name belongs on the HCDO line with John Kerry because of the County Organization's support. Are you arguing against that? : : Thanks for the explanation.. Like we didn't know that, you wrote this link which was specifically worded to be slanted. : : you would never see a newspaper headline, no matter how slanted say it like that. : : Why 'Picked'?, why not choice? or elected by the HCDO? : : The word 'Picked' was used to point out the process how Doria was elected and used by you to denote a negative connotation. Come on let's get serious here Anthony
