John Watson is to announce today that he is running for the State Senate in the 31st District. This race is for the unexpired term of Glenn Cunningham's seat.

John Watson is allied with Ron Buoncore. Buoncore is on the ballot this November in the special election for Mayor of Jersey City with the support of Glenn's widow, Sandra Cunningham.

The press conference is scheduled for 2PM today, September 20, 2004 at 50 Madison Street in Jersey City. That is at the corner of Clinton and Madison in front of the Salem Baptist Church, just south of the West Police Precinct on Communipaw Avenue.

The other announced candidates are Assemblyman Anthony Chiappone, Mayor of Bayonne, Joe Doria and, Jersey City NAACP Head Kabili Tayari. Since the death of Jersey City Mayor and State Senator Glenn Cunningham, Doria has served as State Senator. He was elected by the Democratic Committee people of the 31st.
