Urban Times News Earl the Hat Morgan spends the better part of his days looking for African American living above the poverty line to write about. As we saw last week, his story was about the African American Director of the Jersey City Incinerator Authority. What about the last Jersey City bond deal? You know, the one that the told the late Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham that they didn’t need in order to avoid a tax increase. As soon as L. Harvey Smith became the Acting Mayor, he brought Dennis Enright, former County Executive Bob Janisewski’s finance wiz with the questionable background, to do the deal. We know that the Hat can’t find any fault with the County Administration led by Tom DeGise, or Acting Mayor Harvey Smith’s city administration. You are a hypocrite and a phony Earl the Hat. We want to take issue with some of the people around certain candidates starting with Lou Manzo campaign led by former Mayor Gerry McCann. We understand that five days after the late Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham died, he reserved the Casino on the Park for an election night party for Lou Manzo, after telling everyone that he and Manzo wouldn’t discuss the Mayor’s race until 30 days after the mayor’s death. If Manzo can approve of this type of campaigning what kind of candidate can he be? To let a guy like Gerry McCann run his campaign? What decent person could vote for a Manzo/McCann team? Acting Mayor L. Harvey is letting Roger Catfish Jones lead his campaign when Jones was the one who ran Gerry McCann’s campaign for mayor in 1989. Roger is telling Gerry McCann everything that Smith is doing. Ed “Cheat” Cheatum is on leave with the County Bosses Tom DeGise and Chief of Staff Bill Gaughan. He is well aware that he will have to go back to his old job in the county after Smith losses in November, and is not telling Gaughan and DeGise everything about the Smith campaign. Smith got rid of Frank Lorenzo because he believed that he was not supporting him, but what about Cheatum and Jones? Smith has another problem. Who will he support for State Senate? He has to support Joe Doria from Bayonne. Remember Joe Doria took the seat from Jersey City after the death of Mayor Cunningham. Smith people are talking about splitting the black community. Let’s see what he does on the Senate race. Ron Bonoucore is running in this election, claiming that he was a friend to the late Mayor Glenn Cunningham with the two Booth Brothers running his campaign. Alex Booth if you remember was the first director to openly work against Mayor Cunningham and was asked to resign by Mayor Cunningham. He wouldn’t leave and joined with the city council to block the mayor. He started the city council to vote against anything that Mayor Cunningham proposed. His brother Jon (Jay) Booth tried to take over the Municipal Utility Authority with a fifteen million dollar bond deal that would have bankrupted the city. Stevie Wonder can see what these two guys will do if they are ever in control. Poor Gerry Healy, one of his greatest problems is that it is rumored that Gerry McCann has a picture of Healy undressed and drunk. This is McCann’s style, but he is Lou Manzo’s chief campaign strategist. But his real problem is Tom DeGise and Gaughan. In the minority community, Gaughan is believed to be racist, and they’ve done nothing to change that image. One last item - Gerry McCann told Freeholder Jeff Dublin that when Manzo becomes mayor next he may have to replace Dublin on the ticket. When did Gerry McCann begin to decide what happens in the black community? We didn’t forget his belief that all poor people should leave Jersey City and be moved to Monmouth County. Manzo better get control of McCann before he dooms his campaign. Kabili Tayari is the candidate for Senate in the 31st district joining Willie Flood as mayoral candidate and Jeff Dublin as Freeholder candidate to form the Cunningham Team.
