Can't the GOP cultivate their own candidates? Nothing personal against Joe, but he is a Democrat who pays his Homage to the HCDO and Bobby M. : JERSEY CITY - Hudson County Republican Party (HCRP) Chairman Jose Arango and Vice-Chair Deborah Cuseglio today announced that the HCRP is supporting interim Senator Joseph V. Doria, Jr. in his bid to fill the unexpired term of the late Senator Glenn Cunningham, who passed away in May. : In addition to the HCRP's backing, the Republican city committees in Jersey City and Bayonne are supporting Doria and are urging Republicans in the 31st Legislative District to vote for Doria on Election Day, Tuesday, November 2. Republican State Committee Members Lee Lichtenberger and Maryann Kelleher are also supporting Doria. : "I have known Joe Doria for more than 20 years and I can't think of another public servant who works harder and more effectively for his constituents," said Arango, who served with Doria in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1986 to 1988. "Joe Doria has always put the people he represents first and his party label second in order to get things done. We would have put him on the Republican line if our State constitution allowed it, like in New York." : Bayonne City Republican Chairman Vincent Cuseglio, Jersey City Republican Party Vice Chairwoman Sonia Hernandez Schulman and Jersey City Republican Chairman Russ Maffei are joining Arango in supporting Doria for Senate because of Doria's strong track record and ability to deliver for the people he was elected to serve. : Bayonne City Republican Chairman Cuseglio added, "Republicans and Democrats don't often agree on much, but we can all agree that the only choice for Senate is Joe Doria. While others want only to grandstand and sling arrows, Joe Doria is a consensus builder who knows it is more important to get results than to showboat. I hope everyone joins me in voting for Joe Doria on November 2." : "Joe Doria is unbossed and unbought, pure and simple," Jersey City GOP Vice Chairwoman Schulman stated. "He is a proven leader who has worked to ease the burden of property taxes by fighting to increase the Homestead Rebate for seniors and NJ Saver rebates for families. Joe Doria deserves our support on Election Day." : “Over the years Joe Doria Has proven to be bi-partisan," added Jersey City GOP Chairman Maffei. “With no Republican in the race, experience is out best choice!” : "I am thankful for the support of the HCRP leadership and its members," Doria concluded. "During my 25-years years in the Legislature as Assemblyman, Speaker, Assembly Democratic Leader, and now as Senator, I have always tried to work toward the common good for the people of Hudson County and New Jersey. If I am blessed to be elected this November, I will continue to work on behalf or all the people to provide property tax relief, to improve our schools and to bring more quality jobs to Jersey City and Bayonne." : ###
