Hudson Republicans endorse Democrat locally, Bush nationally The county GOP has given its endorsement to state Sen. Joseph V. Doria Jr., who was selected by the Democratic committee members of the 31st District - which includes all of Bayonne and portions of Jersey City - to run for the remainder of the late Glenn D. Cunningham's Senate term. . . . Last week, Arango stood with a group of 12 Democrats at Lincoln Park in Jersey City to announce a new alliance: Democrats for Bush. "The Democratic Party has gone too far to the left to promote what France, Germany and Russia want," Arango said. "The people here have fought in different wars and represented their country in different ways and they understand why we have to go and fight the enemies of the United States where they are." The new group includes former political figures, veterans and union members, many of whom said they are supporting the president because of his handling of the war on terror. "I believe that since Sept. 11, George W. Bush has led our country in the right way," said John Guarini, chairman of the Jersey City 9/11 Committee. "Our future is in good hands with George W. Bush." . . . For the complete Jersey Journal article, please see the Link.
